  • Production Assistant

    Job Purpose / Summary:

    The Production Assistant will work closely with the Production team to support the planning and organisation of the production process, coordinating production schedules and workflows between departments. The Production Assistant will liaise with department supervisors to ensure manufacturing issues are resolved and assist in day to day production operations.

    Main Duties:
    • To input/manage sales orders from customers, manual entry & electronically.
    • To promptly raise sales order acknowledgements for customers where required.
    • To assist with the raising of Work Orders relevant to any new sales order requirements. Utilising our MRP system. This process is key to the business and will need to be managed carefully & efficiently.
    • To work closely with the Shift Manager/ Operations Manager to assist with the prompt delivery of orders to meet customer demands. This will involve actively being involved with shop floor processes to manage the flow of finished goods through to dispatch.
    • To assist with general enquiries into the business, whether electronically or verbally – to promote a professional approach.
    • To be a team player within the business, supporting all areas of the business where possible.
    Education & Experience:
    • Demonstrable ability to follow specific work instructions accurately and reliably.
    • Proven ability to work under own initiative to complete objectives.
    • The ability to work flexibly within a team.
    • Basic proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Strong personal qualities in: Attention to detail; Communication and Reliability and Accountability.
    • The ability to handle multiple tasks.
    • The willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges and a changing environment.
    • The confidence to question and challenge and to maintain clarity of objectives.

  • Maintenance Engineer – Electrical

    Job Purpose:

    The role is to maintain all plant and machinery in a timely and efficient manner. To carry out scheduled routine maintenance of machines and supporting services and to fault find and repair machines as required.  You will be part of a planned maintenance team.

     

    Typical Responsibilities:

     

    • Carry out repairs to plant, machinery and equipment to minimise lost time due to breakdown
    • Planned Preventative Maintenance
    • As required carry out major refurbishment of plant, equipment and machinery
    • Project work and Continuous Improvements
    • Adhere to all Company and Health & Safety procedures and legislation
      • To investigate reported faults, identify the cause and decide the necessary course of action to rectify the fault.
      • To isolate the machine and make safe as required.
      • Electrical repairs may involve working with up to 415 volts AC or DC current.
      • Mechanical repairs would entail dismantling and re-assembling of machine components including any hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
      • To be aware of and observe personal health and safety, and that of fellow members.
      • Co-operate with Managers.
      • The ideal candidate will be expected to work on all current and future company sites.

    Education & Experience:

      • Strong, practical engineering background
      • The ideal candidate will be conversant with present and emerging technology, with an up to date knowledge of equipment and techniques
      • Understanding of Engineering, manufacturing and operational processes and standards
      • Experience of fault-finding and repairing CNC multi-axis machines.
      • Ability to find faults using machine drawings and documentation.
      • Flexible approach to work i.e. you will be expected to work until the job at hand is complete

    Self-motivated and able to prioritise own workload

    • Good overall fitness and agility is required due to the nature of the job.
    • Ideally, you should have served an apprenticeship with an associated engineering qualification; you should be 17th edition compliant, with experience of hands on maintenance.
    • Conversant with Fanuc, Siemens and Mitsubishi controls.

    The Role & Requirements:

    • Experienced Centreless Grinder required to machine precision engineering components.
    • Fully conversant with interpreting and working closely to engineering drawings.
    • Working to manufacturing tolerances within 0.01mm
    • Must be able to use engineering measuring equipment
    • Capable of processing one off special components and batch quantities in a production environments
    • Ability to plan and work from own initiative with minimum supervision
    • Must be a strong team player and able to individually perform to meet customers’ demands
    • Willing to learn and offer their knowledge to enable continuous improvements

      • Ensure that allocated operation times are achieved.
      • Fill daily activity sheets.
      • To be aware of and observe personal health and safety, and that of fellow members.

    Education & Experience:

      • Evidence of setting and operating experience on turning alloy steels.
      • Must be conversant with FANUC controls to make routine adjustments.
      • Must be competent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
      • Must be conversant with the use of inspection instruments, to measure diameter, surface texture, roundness, concentricity etc.
      • Knowledge of good machine shop practices.
      • Evidence of communicational knowledge of the English language, sufficient to comprehend health and safety instructions / training.
      • Good overall health and fitness; as expected to handle components weighing 20kgs.
      • Tolerance of some contact with metal cutting fluids used in the process (absence of known acute sensitivity, to these fluids).

    • Make adjustments to the machine settings as required, ensuring that the quality expectations, as per drawing and planning are maintained.
    • Ensure that the allocated operation times are achieved.
    • Fill daily activity sheets.
    • To be aware of and observe personal health and safety, and that of the fellow team members.
    • Co-operate with the Line Manager.

    Education & Experience:

    • Evidence of setting experience on similar machine (or manual turning), preferably twelve months.
    • Must be competent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
    • Competent in the use of jib crane, hand truck etc. (lifting equipment).
    • Must be conversant with the use of inspection instruments.
    • Evidence of communicational knowledge of the English language, sufficient to comprehend health and safety instructions / training.
    • Good overall health and fitness. This can be a physically demanding role.
