    Job Purpose

    The successful candidate will be an experienced estimator who is familiar with all machining processes and ideally with some knowledge of fabricating and welding processes. Working within the commercial team to create quotations from customer drawings of a wide variety of engineering components.

    Responsibilities

    To work within the estimating/sales engineering dept. integrating with the team to create a point of contact for customers.

    Direct contact with customers and suppliers via electronic communication, telephone and face to face.

    It may be required from time to time to visit customers.

    Ensuring the customers’ requirements are understood and that they are communicated effectively to all relevant internal departments.

    Liaise with internal departments to ensure we have adequate capacity and capability to achieve customers’ requirements.

    Monitor successful quotes through production to ensure the components are produced technically correct and are profitable, review and suggest production improvements.

    Understand and follow all internal Kaby procedures.

    Maintain all necessary data bases.

    The position may require the successful candidate to be a point of contact as a sales engineer for a nominated group of customers addressing both technical and commercial issues.

    Desired Skills and Experience.

    Ideally to have served a recognised engineering apprenticeship and a minimum of five years estimating experience.

    Be proficient in the creation of spreadsheets and the use generally of Excel, Word and other core computer skills.

    An ability to utilise CAD/CAM would also be advantageous.

    Must be able to communicate effectively both internally and externally using all normal written and verbal methods.

    We have an opportunity for an experienced Centreless Grinder to join Kaby Engineers.

    The Role & Requirements:

    • Experienced Centreless Grinder required to machine precision engineering components.
    • Fully conversant with interpreting and working closely to engineering drawings.
    • Working to manufacturing tolerances within 0.01mm
    • Must be able to use engineering measuring equipment
    • Capable of processing one off special components and batch quantities in a production environments
    • Ability to plan and work from own initiative with minimum supervision
    • Must be a strong team player and able to individually perform to meet customers’ demands
    • Willing to learn and offer their knowledge to enable continuous improvements
    • Training will be given to candidates who possess the right attitude and are willing to expand their knowledge

    The Candidate: -Previous experience in setting and operating centreless grinding machines -Knowledge of Fanuc controls -Ablility to quality check all components using conventional dimensional measuring equipment such as: Vernier’s, Micrometres and Callipers.

    Job Purpose:

    To set and operate machines for production and help other operators when required.

    Typical Responsibilities:

    • To set CNC turning machines (lathes) for production within allocated times.
    • To operate machines making adjustments to the machine settings as required.
    • To ensure that the quality expectations, as per drawing and planning are achieved.
    • Ensure that allocated operation times are achieved.
    • Fill daily activity sheets.
    • To be aware of and observe personal health and safety, and that of the fellow members.
    • Co-operate with the Managers.

    Education & Experience:

    • Evidence of setting and operating experience on turning alloy steelsl of at least twelve months.
    • Must be conversant with FANUC controls to make routine adjustments.
    • Must be competent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
    • Must be conversant with the use of inspection instruments, to measure diameter, surface texture, roundness, concentricity etc.
    • Knowledge of good machine shop practices.
    • Evidence of communicational knowledge of the English language, sufficient to comprehend health and safety instructions / training.
    • Good overall health and fitness; as expected to handle components weighing 20 kgs.
    • Tolerance of some contact with metal cutting fluids, used in the process (absence of known acute sensitivity, to these fluids).

    Training:

    At the management’s discretion, some of the following training may be offered.

    Job Purpose / Summary:

    The successful candidate will be a entrepreneurial leader to develop and evolve Ariel from a standard sub-contract machining company to a world class aerospace, high precision shop capable of attaining a first class supply reputation whilst generating profitable returns. To interact and develop the relationship with our Indian aerospace facility.

    The Company-Kaby

    As a larger and established business will offer support and mentoring as required plus some additional resource (e.g. HR) however the key objective is for Ariel to forge its way to being an independent standalone company, creating the revenue to enable it to be a key and significant player in the world of high end machining.

    Main Duties:

    • Must be from an engineering manufacturing background, ideally educated to degree level, but also possessing a high degree of commercial acumen. The candidate should have a minimum of ten years manufacturing experience, a reasonable proportion spent in an aerospace or equivalent environment.
    • The candidate will be expected to engage fully in all aspects of running a manufacturing facility, including recruitment, man management, production planning, quality, health and safety, estimating and customer liaison plus establishing a management reporting procedure to the Kaby board.
    • The candidate we will be expected from day one to set and agree a clear strategy for the development of Ariel including attainment of AS9100, sales and profitability targets, investment and growth.

    Labour management

    • Execute the shift training plan to improving performance / flexibility, and organise any additional training through gap analysis that may be required.
    • The ability to manage Attendance/ Absenteeism/ Good timekeeping, working with the HR department to highlight any personnel issues and resolve them. Maintain good employee relations.
    • Actively engage with the shift team to solve business problems, drawing on the expertise and talent on the shift.

    Safety Management

    • Ensure compliance to all site Health and Safety Regulations.
    • Proactively support the Site HS&E Agenda.
    • Complete Incident / accident investigations at the time of event aspiring to elimination of root cause.
    • Carry out Risk Assessments.
    • Engineering management.
    • Coordinate internal / external engineering activities in line with improvement plans and safely execute.
    • Manage engineering support teams.

    Quality Management

    • Proactively support / contribute to the Site Quality Agenda.
    • Preparation for audits and customer visits.
    • Complete NCR’s as per company procedure, and carry out investigations at the time of event aspiring to elimination of root cause.
    • Ensure compliance to Kaby Engineer’s Quality Management System.

    Scope or Scale

    • Line Management responsibility for Lead Operators, Shift Engineers, Operators and General Factory Operatives.
    • Responsible for correct outputs and quality of product.
    • Comply with all, environmental and health and safety requirements as laid down in policy and as trained.
